INCREASE OUR FAITH!

INCREASE OUR FAITH!

Luke 17:1-10
Jesus said to his disciples: “Things that cause people to stumble are bound to come, but here is a warning to anyone who causes these things to come. It would be better for them to be thrown into the sea with a huge stone tied around their neck than to cause one of my children to stumble. So be careful what you do.

“If your brother or sister sins against you, rebuke them; and if they repent, forgive them. Even if they sin against you seven times in a day and seven times come back to you saying ‘I repent,’ you must forgive them.”

The apostles said to the Lord, “Increase our faith!” He replied, “If you have faith as small as a mustard seed, you can say to this large tree, ‘Be uprooted and be planted in the sea,’ and it will obey you. “Suppose one of you has a servant plowing or looking after the sheep. Will he say to the servant when he comes in from the field, ‘Come along now and sit down to eat’? Won’t he rather say, ‘Prepare my supper, get yourself ready and wait on me while I eat and drink; after that you may eat and drink’? Will he thank the servant because he did what he was supposed to do? So you also, when you have done everything you were told to do, should say, ‘We are unworthy servants; we have only done our duty.’”

Jesus observes, “Who is greater, the one eating at the table or the one who serves?
I am among you as one who serves” Luke 22:27

We have no right to demand from God to INCREASE OUR FAITH

First of all, we have all been given a measure of Faith (e.g. 10lb bag of salt). (Romans 12:3)
Jesus says that all we need is less than one grain of salt to tell a tree to be uprooted and to plant itself in the sea or to tell a mountain to move. Nothing will be impossible. (Matthew 17:20)

Imagine if Jesus gave each person a cell phone that connects to Heaven
Some of us will put it away in a drawer and never use it.
Some of us will just turn it on and only use it in an emergency.
Some of us will leave it on and use it constantly and never put it away.
Those who always use it and never put it away will always be in contact with God and will live a FULL life in the Kingdom of God.
Please turn your Jesus phone on and you will never say, “Can You hear me now?”

Faith is not a matter of how much we have, it is a matter of totally trusting and submitting to the Lord’s Will and USING the portion of Faith that has been given to us. We must know that He can do it, that He wants to do it and that He will do it. Imagine you were a lamp. In order to give light, you must first plug into the source of electricity. Jesus is the source.

Secondly, who do we think we are, in the divine presence of our Almighty God, to have the audacity to demand more faith or even to ask for more of anything? We should be on our knees, thanking God and submitting ourselves entirely to Him, then asking Him what He wants us to do and waiting as long as we have to for His divine answer.

Should we expect God to thank us for being His trusting and obedient children?
Absolutely NOT!
We are obedient because He is the Majestic Creator of all things. We trust Him because He loves us, He wants the best for us and this is what He wants us to do.
“Trust and obey, ‘cause there’s no other way.”

We are so fortunate to be servants of our Master who loves us so much and sees us as His children whom He wants to protect, forgive, heal and bless for eternity.
