Jesus Is Actually Inside of You
"Do you not realize about yourselves that Jesus Christ is in
you?" (2 Corin 13:5)
We need to really understand that Jesus is not outside of
us, helping us in our time of need but, in fact, He is actually living within
us at every moment of our lives. The scriptures say that we must renew our
minds by resisting our old ways and to take our input from the leading of the
Holy Spirit so our life can be like Jesus’ way of life. 1 John 2:6). The Bible refers to this
as putting off the ‘old man’ and putting on the ‘new man’. (Ephesians 4:22-24).
"I have been
crucified with Christ; and it is no longer I who live, but Christ who lives in
me; and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of
God, who loved me and gave Himself up for me.” (Gal
2:20)
The Bible states that we are the ‘temple of God’ (2 Corinthians 6:16). Christ resides in us through the Holy
Spirit (Romans
8:9-11). How much Jesus dwells within us depends on how much we resist
the temptations of our old life and how much we follow the leading of the Holy Spirit and become like Jesus Christ by ‘walking in the Spirit’ i.e. by using
the Fruit of the Spirit and the Gifts of the Holy Spirit to become like Jesus. How
far we go requires much prayer and submission to Jesus. God wants us to use our
free will to evict the ‘old man’ and to live as Jesus lived (1 Corin 5 and Eph
4:17-24). We are now “Under New Management”.
"The one who keeps His commandments abides in Him, and
Christ abides in him. We know by this that He abides in us, by the Spirit whom
He has given us. In that day you will
know that I am in My Father, and you in Me, and I in you.” (1John 3:24)
'Behold, I stand at
the door and knock; if anyone hears My voice and opens the door, I will
come in to him and will dine with him, and he with Me.” (Rev 3:20)
"Abide in Me,
and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself unless it abides in
the vine, so neither can you unless you abide in Me. "I am the vine, you
are the branches; if you abide in Me then I will abide in you. You will bear much fruit, for apart from Me, you can do nothing." (John 15:4)
“Therefore if you have been raised up with Christ, keep
seeking the things above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God. Set your mind on the things above, not
on the things that are on earth. For you have died with Christ and your resurrected life is hidden with
Christ in God.” (Col 3:1)
"If you abide in Me and My words abide in you, ask whatever you wish for and it will be
done for you.” (John
15:7)
“The one who keeps His commandments abides in Him, and He in
him. We know by this that He abides in
us, by the Spirit whom He has given us.” (1 John
3:24)
“If the Spirit of Him who raised Jesus from the dead dwells
in you, He who raised Christ from the dead will also give life to your mortal
bodies through His Spirit who dwells in
you.” (Romans 8:11)
Trusting in Christ
means that we meet 1-on-1 with Christ and we go through an exchange. We give
Him all of our sins (which He paid for on the cross) and, in return, He forgives
us and we have His Righteousness which makes us ‘Right With God’ (“Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they
will be filled”). The Bible says, "All the prophets testify about Jesus that everyone who believes in him
receives forgiveness of sins through His name. In Him we have redemption
through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, in accordance with the riches of
God's grace." After our sins are forgiven, a new life begins, "If anyone is in Christ, he is a new
creation; the old has gone, the new has come!" We become followers of
Christ and open our hearts to allow Him to live within us as we strive to become
more and more like Him. We will live in
the Kingdom enjoying life to its fullest, filled with God’s love, forgiveness,
peace, protection, healing and multitude of blessings which will be given to us,
to our family and to our friends.
